Last February 17, during the Aernnova Executives Convention, we were fortunate to have the “virtual” presence of Roberto Chaves, Embraer’s Chief Procurement Officer, to share with us how Embraer, not without serious difficulties, has become the third largest aircraft manufacturing company in the world, only behind the almighty Boeing and Airbus.
Embraer is currently number 1 in sales of commercial aircraft under 150 seats. The E-Jets (E1 and E2) families of aircraft operate for more than 180 airlines in 90 countries. The Phenom business jet has been the best-selling aircraft in its segment for the past nine years in a row. There are currently more than 4,500 Embraer aircraft in operation. In the defense market, Embraer is also a world reference in some sectors with the KC-390 and Super Tucano products.
But Embraer is not only a manufacturer of commercial and defense aircraft, but also a world leader in other technological areas that we did not even imagine, such as space, communications, software, navigation and air control. These capabilities have allowed Embraer to be at the forefront of technology and look to the future with innovative projects such as EVE (eVTOL oriented to urban mobility) or the Energia family (four new aircraft concepts using renewable energy propulsion technologies).
Roberto is much more than a Customer, he is a true partner who has shared with Aernnova many and diverse experiences throughout his professional career, but above all, Roberto is a great friend of Aernnova, and he has confessed his satisfaction in participating in an event like the Convention where he has been able to directly transmit Embraer’s values and the recognition of a job well done on our part. Not surprisingly, Aernnova is one of Embraer’s reference partner suppliers.
After the failed sale project to Boeing, Embraer had to reinvent itself. As if the challenge was not complicated enough, it had to do so in an environment marked by the “Covid” pandemic. But Embraer has proven to be a successful company in many of its projects, and this one was no exception. Building on the crisis response in 2020, the recovery plan in 2021, Embraer is “Fit for Growth” in the years ahead (2022 to 2026).
Embraer bases its “Fit4Growth” project on four pillars: Performances; cost and efficiency; business growth; and partnership. They sound familiar to us because they are closely aligned with our own values and objectives. A permanent value of Aernnova is the commitment to comply with its obligations, be they delivery, quality or support, and this has been recognized by many customers with awards for excellence, among them Embraer.
The alignment of objectives and customer satisfaction will allow us to explore new business opportunities and possible participation in new Embraer programs such as the TPNG (Turbo Prop New Generation) currently under conceptual study. All this driven by Aernnova’s strategic bets, such as the acquisition of the industrial plants located in Evora, Portugal, which in turn satisfies Embraer’s operational needs by having a reliable supply partner such as Aernnova.
Roberto referred several times during his speech to the parallelism between Embraer and Aernnova. Something we are very proud of on both sides. We have had a fruitful history that forecasts a successful future and we will make it happen together!
