ANNnews: Lorena, could you explain your role at Aernnova?

LORENA RODRÍGUEZ: I am currently Head of Project and Customer Service. I joined Aernnova in 2015 as a Project Engineer and have progressed through different positions over the last 10 years, including Project Manager, Project Manager and Configuration Control, and now this new position.

ANNnews: What motivated you to join Aernnova and what do you like most about your job?

LORENA RODRÍGUEZ: I have always found the aeronautical industry very interesting and rigorous. I wanted to learn about its working methods and systems, which are very demanding, rigorous, and controlled. This motivates me every day to improve my deliverables, knowing that in this industry there is no room for error, as we have a very important responsibility in people’s lives.

ANNnews: What is a typical day like for you?

LORENA RODRÍGUEZ: I start my activities at 8 a.m. and, as a good practice, I like to spend 10 minutes at the beginning of my day planning my activities for the day and prioritizing those that have the greatest impact to ensure they are accomplished during the day. It is also very important for me to be close to my team, to have a general understanding of the status of the programs, and above all, to know if there are any situations in which I can support and/or advise them.

ANNnews: What are the biggest challenges you face in your work and how do you handle them?

LORENA RODRÍGUEZ: Situations beyond the company’s control, such as global material supply situations. In that case, I conduct a one-month analysis of possible impacts on customer demands, notifying them in a timely manner, asking for support, or managing possible changes.

ANNnews: In your opinion, what has changed the most in your work since you started here? What changes would you like to see in the near future?

LORENA RODRÍGUEZ: I would like the team to continue to consolidate so that the lessons learned are not lost and all the experience gathered over time leads to the consolidation of all the company’s operations.

ANNnews: How would you describe the company culture? What values do you feel are reflected in your day-to-day work?

LORENA RODRÍGUEZ: The company culture is well defined based on skills, ethics, teamwork, and customer focus, which are all part of my day-to-day work. Without these skills, it would not be possible to perform my job.

ANNnews: What advice would you give to someone starting work at Aernnova or someone thinking about joining?

Think big, be ambitious about where you want to go within the company, identify a role or position you would like to fill, and go for it.

ANNnews: What do you enjoy most about your job, and what motivates you to keep going every day?

LORENA RODRÍGUEZ: The small achievements. Every day we have new successes and challenges, and that keeps me motivated and interested in solving problems and moving forward.

ANNnews: If you could change something about your daily routine, what would it be?

LORENA RODRÍGUEZ: Reduce the number of meetings.

ANNnews: What has been the most interesting project you’ve worked on so far?

LORENA RODRÍGUEZ: The Bell505 and HONDA480 development projects. Since they are development projects, I’ve been able to see how they evolve until they finally fly and become commercial aircraft.
