New members join the Aernnova Procurement team

Editorial Office ANNnews
5 November 2025

It seems unbelievable, but almost two years have passed since the new Strategic Procurement team was launched.

Since then, the Purchasing department has continued to evolve, especially in the different categories, with the incorporation of new Commodity Buyers both in the teams in Spain and in the Hamble team, which leads the defense strategy.

Today we will meet David Diaz, who joined the Aernnova team to give a boost to the aforementioned area, and Asier Tarrio, who also joined on September 1 as Manager of the Supplier Development Engineering team. Asier will have to work closely with Iban Orokieta to transfer projects after passing through the series gate from the SDE area to the SQA.

Left: David Diaz, Right: Asier Tarrio

ANNnews: How were your first days at Aernnova?

DAVID DÍAZ: I joined in September 2024. The first few days were good, but there was a lot of information to take in. I was introduced to the team and key people from other areas, and they also focused on explaining the work process, procedures, key information, and document management to me. I would highlight the positive reaction of my colleagues, who were keen to answer any questions I had.

ASIER TARRIO: I joined on September 1. The truth is that the days have been quite hectic from the start, with many open fronts.

ANNnews: What attracted you to Aernnova as a company?

DAVID DÍAZ: Aernnova is a company with an international presence and very interesting projects in the sector. Also, the aeronautical sector is one that really caught my attention because of its high impact on everyday life globally.

ASIER TARRIO: The opportunity, transparency, and friendliness from the very beginning.

ANNnews: What were your expectations before joining the company?

DAVID DÍAZ: Before joining Aernnova, I hoped to find an environment where I could continue to develop professionally, learning from real projects and an experienced team. I was also looking for a company with a friendly work culture, where teamwork and commitment were valued. On a personal level, I was excited to be part of a solid project with potential, and one that I could feel part of from the beginning.

ASIER TARRIO: I expected a high volume of work, but the truth is that my expectations have been far exceeded.

ANNnews: How do you think your profile fits into the Aernnova project?

DAVID DÍAZ: My career combines knowledge of engineering and management with extensive experience in industrial sectors and global operations. This combination has allowed me to develop a strategic and operational view focused on efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement. In my role, I lead the team responsible for structuring and defining costs in the Purchasing area, working closely with buyers and the Commercial and Programs area to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the business, in line with the values of excellence and collaboration that define Aernnova.

ASIER TARRIO: I would say good. After all, I have more than 12 years of experience working at another company in the sector, related to the design, manufacture, and assembly of aircraft engines, the last nine of which have been related to industrialization and supply chain development.

ANNnews: Which other departments are you collaborating with?

DAVID DÍAZ: We collaborate very closely with the Commercial & Programs, Operations, and Engineering departments, which allows us to have a complete view of the product life cycle and add value at each stage of the process.

ASIER TARRIO: Within the umbrella of procurement, we are trying to be as autonomous and independent as possible in order to industrialize and develop all the buy projects we currently have underway with different suppliers. When we have needed help from other areas or departments, the response has generally been very positive and collaborative.

ANNnews: What value do you think you can bring based on your training or experience?

DAVID DÍAZ: In the Purchasing Cost Engineering department, we bring an analytical and strategic approach, backed by experience in cost management and control in industrial and global environments. Our work helps to optimize processes, support decision-making, and strengthen the competitiveness of the Procurement department.

ASIER TARRIO: I believe we must continue working on the growth, training, and development of the industrialization and supplier development area, in order to remain aligned with the company’s strategy, in search of new projects and transfers.

ANNnews: What are your short- and medium-term goals within the team?

DAVID DÍAZ: In the short term, our goal is to consolidate technical knowledge with the support of plants and suppliers, as well as to improve the standardization of internal processes. In the medium term, we seek to strengthen cost analysis through continuous monitoring of market trends and to promote the digitization and automation of activities with the implementation of direct analysis obtained from the data of new ERP system.

ASIER TARRIO: We must industrialize the cargo door of the A350 Freighter and, on the other hand, continue developing the Honda 480 project.

ANNnews: How do you imagine your evolution within the company?

DAVID DÍAZ: I would like to continue developing new skills, expanding my responsibilities, and continuing to learn about the aeronautical sector. I firmly believe in joint growth and in the possibility of continuing to actively contribute to the development and excellence of the Aernnova project.

ASIER TARRIO: To continue focusing on teamwork, training, and growth in the area of industrialization and supplier development, with a view to being agile and autonomous, striving to do things right the first time.
