ANNnews: What made you decide to move to Portugal to take on this new professional challenge?
Jose García: The opportunity to continue growing professionally and take on new challenges in my career. After eight years in the same position, I saw an opportunity to continue growing, especially at the largest plant we have at Aernnova.
ANNnews: How was the process of adapting, both professionally and personally, when you moved to a new country?
Jose García: At first, it’s difficult because it’s another language and there are different customs when it comes to working and daily routines. But I managed to adapt quickly to the job thanks to my new colleagues, who welcomed me from day one. It’s a very rewarding experience to work outside your own country and be able to share experiences and ways of thinking with other people. In this case, as they are neighboring countries, there are always cultural differences.
ANNnews: What have been the main challenges you have faced since your arrival, and how have you dealt with them?
Jose García: The main challenge has been arriving at such a large plant with so many people (approximately 450) who did not speak my language. Added to this challenge was the fact that the situation in Évora was very critical because we were very behind on deliveries, and I had to adapt under a lot of pressure. However, thanks to everyone’s teamwork, we have achieved great results in recent months.
ANNnews: What lessons have you learned from this international mobility experience as a production manager?
Jose García: It has allowed me to learn about other working environments and other ways of achieving objectives. It has also allowed me to learn about new products and expand my knowledge of different customers. It gives me a much more comprehensive view of how to carry out production anywhere in the world.
ANNnews: What advice would you give to other professionals who are considering an international mobility opportunity within Aernnova?
Jose García: I believe that stepping outside your comfort zone and facing new challenges is an important experience, even more so when it involves other countries. During my time at Aernnova Ingeniería, I spent some time in France, which was also a very enriching experience. So I encourage my colleagues to take advantage of these opportunities, as they offer tremendous professional growth.
