In Aernnova Mexico we have had the opportunity to enjoy another edition of the CEO Breakfast Program that is being organized in Aernnova Group. During the day we were able to have a relaxed chat with Ricardo Chocarro, who wanted to express his interest in continuing to hold this type of group dynamics to learn about the concerns of employees in a closer and more local way.
The first thing Ricardo wanted to convey is that air traffic continues to show recovery towards pre-pandemic levels, but we must be careful due to the inflationary effects caused by the increase in the costs of energy, raw materials, etc.
He pointed out that Aernnova’s growth is based on 4 areas,: (i) customer contracts; (ii) expanding customers with growth potential; (iii) advance Air Mobility, where Aernnova wants to be and where we have the service, manufacturing and engineering capacity to win new contracts and (iv) Inorganic growth and supply contracts.
Ricardo conveyed that we should take into account the impact of inflation on our production costs, look for performance, the integration of Lean in the plants, keep an eye on cash flow and evolve into a digital and forward-looking company. Our competitors will make changes in this regard and we must not be left behind.
I would like to share with you some of the comments of our colleagues:
Selene Martínez: “The merger of the two Mexican companies into Aernnova Mexico that was closed in 2017 has been carried out satisfactorily and has merged the talent of both companies.”
Eduardo Garcia: “In Aernnova Mexico there are opportunities for growth, I started as a factory worker and have evolved to reach my current position as production control supervisor. It is the company that has given me the most opportunities and I feel very happy about it.”
Ricardo states he is satisfied with the high lenght of employment at Aernnova. There are people who have wanted to return and have shown their loyalty to the company after realizing how the situation is out there. They realize that it is a good company to work in.
In addition, he wanted to know how we in Mexico perceive Communication in Aernnova Group, to which I answered that we are seeing a greater evolution since the launching of the new ANNnews Magazine, through which we share the vision of the company and a greater closeness with our colleagues in the different locations.
David Ramos: “This is the first company I have worked for and I am very happy to belong to it”.
Porfirio Gama: “I have always received the support of all my colleagues”
Luis Alberto Ramos mentioned that this is his first job in the aeronautical sector and asked if any process will be automated, to which Ricardo responded that yes, but with criteria.
Miguel Saldaña, who has previously worked in other multinationals, assures that he has not perceived the same conciliation in these companies that he has seen in Aernnova.
Jair Hernandez, the current Quality Manager, said that his team is being asked to increase capacity, but to do so they need to invest in improving processes. He knows that at this time we have to be cautious, but he wanted to know if investments in machinery are going to be made. Ricardo told him that if the recovery of the investment was in one year, it is feasible.
Fabio Eliseu pointed out that in Mexico there is investment in maintenance, they work with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and they depend on people, they have to invest in time, in tools to improve schedules… but he wanted to know when the time will come for automation and thus waste less time in maintenance. Ricardo explained that you have to automate packages or complete processes, you have to be cautious and automate what you can, there are processes that cannot be automated and others that invite you to do so.
Areas for improvement were also discussed:
Juan Manuel Biais stated that all employees present at the breakfast have grown both personally and professionally, and they share the knowledge. He believes that we should continue in this line and seek the growth and development of personnel: the “TPM of people”.
Ricardo explained that we must seek Talent Attraction and Development. That the people who work with us do so with personal ambition and initiative.
Adrián Godínez, Coordinator of PRL, asked about the measures that could be taken in Mexico to be more environmentally responsible and reduce emissions, as well as for the possibility of focusing the policies in this sense, to which Ricardo answered that in October he would have the answer, since they are working on the adherence to certain UN Sustainable Development Goals in order to evolve to an increase in corporate social responsability.
Susy Torres pointed out that the people in the company doing internships have opportunities to evolve withing the Company. In addition, as a member of the Human Resources team, she expressed that they are responsible for people, the “Heart of the Company”.
Nerea Echevarría is looking forward to the Zero Latency Project, which will bring positive changes. She believes that there is talent in other plants where the staff has seniority, but that this knowledge is not shared with the resto of the companies fo the Group. We know that we are coming from a pandemic and it has not been possible to make much investment in this sense, but he has the feeling that we are improving.
Martha Resendíz asked if there are new projects for Aernnova Mexico, to which Ricardo answered that they are working on new projects for the return of investment.
Nora Ortíz, production supervisor, spoke of her evolution at Aernnova. She especially thanked Salvador Santos for his support. She mentioned that she has experienced the implementation of Lean Manufacturing to plan and comply in time and form with customers, seeking their recognition. He considers that a great team work has been done together with Eduardo, Selene and Miguel Saldaña to reduce costs.
Ricardo acknowledged the great work that has been done in LEAN Manufacturing.
Selene Martinez, responsible for Lean implementation in Mexico, shares the idea. She affirms that in companies where she has worked previously, continuous improvement was sought, but here a broader work is done, mentioning that with many of those present she has worked with VSM, a tool that has contributed in an exceptional way to achieve high performance and satisfaction indicators.
Finally, Adriana Rivera wanted to know what areas of opportunity he sees for Mexico.
Ricardo said that we must decide what we play at, nobody can be good at everything, we must analyze where we are really good, know the environment and ourselves. In a few years the capacity will increase and we must know in which areas we are the best, project where we want to be and that we have profitability to invest in talent and development. Knowing the environment, customers, competition…
Aernnova is a GREAT organization and we must make it sustainable and profitable.
I would like to end by thanking you for this opportunity.
We have a great team that seeks to put Aernnova Mexico at the top and position it among the best and greatest companies with work and dedication.
