The International Defense and Security Exhibition FEINDEF was held from 3 to 5 November at IFEMA Madrid. This second edition of the Exhibition, with the collaboration of the main characters of the Spanish industrial sector, has had a great success of attendees, who could also access to an extensive program of conferences and forums with national and international experts. Aernnova has been present at the Exhibition with its own stand.
Defense Programs are leading elements of technological development. GPS, artificial satellites, radars, ultrasound techniques or drones are examples of innovations arising from defense needs that have been incorporated into our daily life. For this reason, authorities are increasingly recognizing the need to promote technology in the R&D&I processes of these programs, in a model that provides for their dual use, civil and defense, since a dual-use strategy can benefit companies, providing them with access to new markets.
Spain is one of the 12 countries with the capacity to manufacture the complete cycle of an aircraft. The new European defense market can be a great opportunity for national companies in the aerospace sector in the areas of collaborative research, development of their capabilities, commercial projection on a global scale and their integration in international supply chains.
The NGWS is a very good example of this. Better known as FCAS (Future Combat Air System), it is a cooperation project agreed between the Ministries of Defense of Germany, France and Spain, whose raison d’être is the implementation of a complete system of manned and unmanned aircraft to replace the current fleets of combat aircraft of these three countries by 2040s.
As we did in the first edition of the exhibition, Aernnova has participated in this second edition with its own stand, located right next to the large FCAS space (300m2) and in front of the INTA (Spanish Institute of Aerospace Technology) exhibitor. The configuration of the stand has allowed us to exhibit a representation of products and technological developments that we have been making for the sector as a new winglet for the C295 designed and manufactured by Aernnova at the request of Airbus under the European program Clean Sky 2, a nacelle of the C295, a Eurofighter flares dispenser and a transportable antenna, among others.
Among the Forums that took place during the Exhibition, we can highlight those related to FCAS, cybersecurity and the International Women’s Forum where different attendees shared their experiences and exchanged views on how to promote female STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) talent in the Defense and Security Industry.
The third edition of FEINDEF will take place on May 17, 18 and 19, 2023 and is expected to provide a dynamic and immersive technology experience never seen before. More than 220 companies participating in this edition have already confirmed their presence for 2023, so FEINDEF 23 is expected to continue exceeding expectations and become an international reference for the Defense, Security, Aerospace and Space industry.
