Embraer and Aernnova conclude their strategic partnership agreement in Évora with the acquisition of both companies by Aernnova
Embraer and Aernnova concluded on May 2, 2022 the strategic partnership agreement and the acquisition of the two companies located in Évora announced in early 2022.
At the same time of the conclusion of the agreement, a signing ceremony took place at the Évora facilities, attended by Francisco Gomes Neto and Iñaki López Gandásegui, presidents of Embraer and Aernnova respectively, Ricardo Chocarro, CEO of Aernnova and a representation of the management teams of both companies.
This agreement is in line with the growth strategy approved by Aernnova in its Strategic Plan, reinforcing Aernnova´s position as a Tier 1 supplier for single-aisle aircraft, while substantially enhancing our presence in the executive aerospace and defense markets.
With 37,100 and 27,800 square meters respectively, and employing more than 500 people, these companies combine the most advanced technologies in the manufacture of metallic aerostructures and composite materials with a high level of digitalization and automation of their production processes, being able to supply complete systems, such as the Praetor 500/600 Wing.
The agreement provides a key position in 3 niche markets (Business, Regional and Defense), through key platforms with significant growth potential, such as the E2, Praetor and KC390 (it should be noted that E2 175 is on hiatus until 2024).
The fact that these companies are Aernnova’s largest production centers will allow the signing of new contracts with both Embraer and other manufacturers.
This acquisition, together with the signing of the strategic agreement with Embraer, may bring new opportunities for the rest of the Group’s companies.
The acquisition of Embraer’s plants in Portugal, with a technologically advanced manufacturer of complex metallic and composite structures, represents an opportunity to strengthen the relationship with Embraer and is a unique opportunity to increase the exposure to Airbus and Wide Body platforms.
The Evora plants are well equipped with state-of-the-art CNC machines, automated robots, surface treatment capabilities, paperless and Lean 4.0 plant organization.
In terms of main products and components, the plants produce complex empennage and wing components that will reinforce Aernnova’s leading position in the empennage niche as one of the worldwide reference suppliers for this component.
Finally, Portugal is a strategic footprint to support Aernnova’s competitiveness, complementing Aernnova’s presence in 8 countries, as a leading aerostructures company specialized in the design and manufacture of aerostructures and components such as empennages, wings and fuselage sections. With nearly 5,000 employees, we are the first Tier 1 in Spain.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our colleagues from Évora who have just joined the Aernnova family.
