ANNnews: How have you managed to make it a habit to detect waste and opportunities for improvement in your day-to-day work?
MIGUEL ÁNGEL: Well, I do my work thinking about continuous improvement, that is, seeing that nothing is perfect and that everything can be improved, as long as it is profitable.
I think it is very necessary not to be satisfied with doing things always in one way just because that’s the way they have always been done, but thinking about the possibility that things can be done differently.
Each factory worker, within the area he/she masters, can surely suggest good ideas, because the one who does is the one who can contribute the most and push towards improvement.
ANNnews: What do you consider to be the keys to being able to acquire this view?
MIGUEL ANGEL: I have been working at Intec-Air for more than 18 years, in the quality and environment department, so experience helps. Having access to the different areas allows you to train and acquire knowledge of how the processes work as a whole taking into account the inputs and outputs of these, especially understanding how things work makes your work much easier, being constant. I think one of the most important is that 2 heads think better than one, if it is done as a team, the implementation of improvement is easier.
EXPERIENCE, ACCESS TO PROCESSES, PERSEVERANAND TEAMWORK.
ANNnews: How do you think the organization itself can help so that each of us can see opportunities for improvement in our day-to-day work and be able to implement them?
MIGUEL ÁNGEL: I believe that by standardizing processes between companies, using the same procedures and recording improvements in them.
It has also been very important that in recent years the shop floor personnel have been joining in the commitment to improvement so that it can be seen from all perspectives.
Good management of analysis, implementation and recognition is also positive, as it makes employees see that they are taken into account and that they show interest in contributing. I think we are on the right track.
ANNnews: Do you consider that Aernnova is committed to the drive for improvement?
MIGUEL ÁNGEL: Of course, you only have to look at the participation statistics, the evolution of the savings achieved per year and the extension to new types of awards in recent years with the H&S and Environment awards.
ANNnews: How do you value the IDEM tool and what do you think it brings?
MIGUEL ANGEL: I think it is a culture that we are gradually embracing, this is the way to be more competitive as a company and the time will come when the small details will make the difference. Maybe the IDEM CHANNEL is one of the best tools for each of the employees to contribute to make Aernnova more competitive.
