Hello, my name is Marlene Carola, I am 32 years old and I have been working at the Évora plant in the seals team for 10 years. I have a degree in “Metal Treatment” at IEFP (Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional) in 2012, and then I did an internship at Lauak. I started the course without knowing very well what it was about and little by little I became curious and very interested. I chose Embraer (now ANN Évora) because at the time it was the closest company to where I lived, in addition to the company itself.
I have been a team leader since 2020. During my career I spent 3 months at OGMA to help at a time of high production rate.
I am from a town that is about 44 km from Évora, Redondo. I like walking and spending time with my dog. I love handicrafts, sometimes I make them to give to my friends and family for Christmas.
ANNnews: Marlene, what does your day-to-day work consist of?
Marlene: Whenever I arrive in the morning, I always bring the team together to first report on the previous day’s achievements and positive aspects. Then I address the difficulties we have had and the areas for improvement. We discuss the importance of safety in the activities we are going to perform and then I assign the work to the team.
Throughout the day, I go around the different areas where sealing work is being done with the people in my team to check the work and if they need any support.
When new people arrive, I introduce them to the team and define the person who will be with them during the training process. When a quality problem is detected in one of our products, we hold a meeting to study the possible causes and implement a solution.
ANNnews: What changes have you experienced in your day-to-day life since Évora joined the Aernnova Group? What has been new? What would you highlight as different?
Marlene: One of the big differences I noticed was the enhancement of the Team Leader’s (TL) role. With Aernnova, not only have we been valued, but the TL’s role has been clarified and defined and the activities have been cleared up, which has led to a different recognition by the team itself.
ANNnews: As you know, one of the great challenges of Aernnova Évora is the growth of personnel to cover the production demand for next year. In this sense, we must work intensely on attracting talent, but above all, on retaining it. What strengths or values would you highlight that the organization has to achieve these objectives?
Marlene: Being an aerospace company, Aernnova is an attractive company in itself. Growth opportunities within the company are another strength, people feel that in the long term they can evolve within the area or even into another one.
ANNnews: What do you consider to be areas for improvement, reinforcement, or areas to pay the greatest attention to in the coming years? What suggestions for improvement would you make in the work environment?
Marlene: In the sealing area there is still not enough recognition, the work we do is not valued enough. It is important that the other areas of the line do not see us as a support area, but as a complementary process to supply the product.
