Ricardo Chocarro Melgosa – CEO Grupo Aernnova
9 June 2023
This year’s edition of the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget (Paris), the world’s leading aeronautics trade fair which has not been held since 2019 due to the pandemic, has brought to light the ongoing recovery of the sector. This year Airbus expects to deliver 720 aircrafts, well above the 661 delivered last year (but still far from the 863 delivered in 2019).
This recovery comes with challenges: reduced profitability due to inflation, supply chain difficulties, rising interest rates. At Aernnova we must face these challenges with the recipes we have always applied: highest level of industrial performance (deliveries on time and in quality), cost efficiency and cash flow generation.
Our priorities today are (1) health and safety and (2) financial sustainability of the company and we must focus our actions on them.
In this issue of ANNnews, we also bring you important matters for the company, such as the growth of our engineering business, the relevant role of women engineers in Aernnova, the rol of expatriates (Mikel Bilbao tells us about his 5-year experience in Los Angeles), cybersecurity and R&D. Additionally, we celebrate the first year of our Évora company in Group Aernnova and the award received by Aernnova from Embraer as its best supplier of aerostructures.
I trust, as always, that you will enjoy this ANNnews and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a good summer.
