Ricardo Chocarro Melgosa – CEO Grupo Aernnova
16 March 2023
We are now entering a new year. A year 2023 in which growth will continue, but in which, as in 2022, we will once again have difficulties with programs margins due to the structural inflation that is being accumulated. It is urgent, and we are working on it, to recover acceptable levels of profitability in order to ensure the Group’s investments and viability in the aeronautic sector.
The stress in the supply chain that we are suffering in the factories, together with the inflationary pressure that we have suffered and continue to last, place us in a complex situation. In the article “Aernnova Industry Leaders Forum II” you can read about the meeting held by the leaders of our industrial companies, where they discussed the actions on which we will focus during 2023 to ensure that we are prepared to face the challenges of the coming years.
Year 2023 must serve to defend one of Aernnova’s strengths, our know-how and ability to resolve difficult situations and our culture of continuous improvement. This has been demonstrated at other times in our history. The strategic pillars of H&S, Performance, Efficiency, Lean, Cash and Digital should be the points where the whole company should focus its efforts. A good example of this is the “IDEM Awards” article, a clear example of the Company’s commitment to improvement, in the framework of which, in 2022, a record has been broken with 0.55 improvement proposals per person in the Aernnova Group, of which 53% have been implemented! Thank you to all of you who have participated, I encourage you to continue to do so this year.
What do we expect from the sector in 2023? As shown in the article “Aernnova’s main customers’ programs and projections” Airbus, one of our main customers, shows aircraft delivery increases of 12% by 2023, although twin-aisle aircraft including the A350 are still far from pre-pandemic rates, which will not be reached until the second half of this decade. Embraer is demanding more deliveries of the Praetor by 2023, the most important program for Aernnova Évora. All this is, in general, good news for Aernnova as recovery of the sector is confirmed and growth will make it easier to face the challenges ahead.
We also highlight the article “A-220 ACT Total Range Extension Program” where we explain a new success of Aernnova teamwork to meet a demand of our customer in its facilities of Mirabel Canada for the A220 program. We incorporate to the magazine articles of interest as “Airplanes and hydrogen” and “Aernnova in its action for the climate” that we hope, together with the rest of the articles of the March issue, will be of your interest.
